For once, Lady Gaga fashion appears to have taken a back seat in VMA 2011. Instead of coming in some sort of fashionable outfit, she takes on the role of Mr Gaga, dressed in a simple gentleman's outfit, complete with stylized waxed curly hair and a jacket, simple white singlet or shirt and black troubles. Before this appearance, Lady Gaga did appear in a meat style costume........

Britney Spears' pop star outfit for VMA 2011 appears to have been toned down too, being just another black petite dress, albeit with twists to it. These twists consist of wavy shiny black lines across the whole outfit, a petite but highly fashionable belt, and a short mini dress that may in fact be hot short black pants.

In addition, other starlets like Selena Gomez all appear quite formal in their pop star costumes. Their pop star costume or outfit consists of variations of the little black dress, either in terms of design or colour.
